Finnegans Wake
James Joyce's Addresses 1922-1941
THE following list details all of the addresses at which James Joyce stayed between October 1922, when he began to take notes for a new post-Ulysses work, and January 1941, when he died. In preparing this list, we have made use of an earlier chronology prepared by Richard Ellmann (Letters II lviii-lxii) and of an important article, “The Joyce Calendar: a chronological listing of unpublished and ungathered letters by James Joyce”, compiled by Richard B. Watson and Randolph Lewis (Joyce Studies Annual 1992, pp.159-179). In addition, we have examined and read through for further internal evidence both published and unpublished correspondence of Joyce and his associates. We have also indicated the dates of some important events which pertain to Joyce's health.
